BIOGRAPHY

Lucía Aja López is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish. She obtained her PhD in Iberian Studies from The Ohio State University in 2022 with a dissertation on the Cantigas de Santa Maria, a collection of medieval Marian songs compiled in the court of Alfonso X in the second half of the 13th century.

Originally from Spain, she has been teaching Spanish language, literature, and cultures in the United States since 2013. In her language courses, she focuses on using communicative tasks and authentic texts both in the classroom and in assessments.

Her research on manuscripts from the Iberian Peninsula in the medieval period looks at what the evidence of their use can teach us about medieval culture.
